Graciela Perera works in the Computer Science Department at Northeastern Illinois University. Her research focuses on innovative ways to teach applied cryptography, cybersecurity, and quantum computing. She loves empowering students of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds. She was selected to participate in Google’s 2018 Faculty in Residence (FIR) Program and a faculty mentor for Google’s 2019 FIR program. She has been involved in efforts to increase the participation of women, minorities, and Hispanics. Currently, she is part of the CAHSI leadership team accelerating the progress of Hispanics in computing. She was the recipient of the 2011 Estrella de LUNA award from Ohio’ s Latinas United Networking Association.
