Shiva Darian

Research Expertise

Shiva Darian is an informatics researcher focused on HCI and AI, with specific expertise in nonprofits and their clients as end users of technology, focusing on understanding their perceptions of sociotechnical systems and rationales behind quantification decisions. She applies qualitative and data science methods for formative requirements gathering for system design. She received her PhD and MS in information science from CU Boulder and holds undergraduate degrees in philosophy and international politics from Penn State University. She has a background working in the nonprofit sector as a refugee caseworker and union organizer.
