Research Expertise

Dr. Panwar is currently involved in research focusing on enhancing trust, security, and privacy within the realm of edge computing, encompassing domains such as smart grids, smart cars, mobile computing systems, and applications in blockchains and decentralized finance. He leads the PRISM Research lab which conducts research in security, privacy, and resilience in networks and distributed systems.
The lab’s current initiatives include the innovative application of verifiable computation frameworks to enhance trust, efficiency and security in applications at the network's edge with particular focus on security of AI/ML and computationally heavy workloads, improving efficiency and security of Decentralized Finance (DeFi) applications, Smart Grid applications, and post-quantum cryptography. The lab also works on applied cryptography, future internet architectures, and improvements to blockchains and blockchain-based solutions with a particular emphasis on leveraging blockchains for novel applications.
