Research Expertise

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at California State University, East Bay. My research interests span interdisciplinary areas, including machine learning, natural language processing, and their applications across diverse fields. I earned my Ph.D. in Computer Science from Kansas State University in December 2020. Prior to that, I obtained an M.A. in Management Science and Engineering and a B.A. in E-Commerce from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China.

My Ph.D. research, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), focused on domain adaptation and transfer learning approaches, with a particular emphasis on their application to analyzing social media data during crises. I have mentored several graduate and undergraduate students, and co-authored a publication on sign language recognition with student collaborators. Currently, I am mentoring three undergraduate students—including one Hispanic student—and two graduate students on a research project, as well as guiding two additional graduate students through their capstone projects.

I am passionate about teaching and mentoring, finding it a rewarding process that fosters mutual learning and growth. Collaborating with professors, colleagues, and students continually inspires and enhances my academic journey.
