Patricia Morreale

CAHSI North Region Lead, Professor, Computer Science, Kean University

Patricia Morreale is a Professor and Director of the School of Computer Science and Technology in the College of Natural and Applied Sciences at Kean University. Her prior work on the design of multimedia systems and networks has developed techniques for error detection and secure processing, which have been patented and commercialized.  She conducts research in broadening participation in computer science, focused on teacher development and student success, and human computer interaction. She has received over $12 million in external funding.  Before joining academia, she worked in industry.

Dr. Morreale is a past co-chair of the National Center for Women in Information Technology (NCWIT) Academic Alliance, received the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) Mathematics and Computer Science Mentoring award, and is an AAAS Fellow. She holds a B.S. from Northwestern University, a M.S. from the University of Missouri, and a Ph.D. from Illinois Institute of Technology, all in Computer Science.

CAHSI Efforts

Working to increase the number of Hispanic students pursuing graduate degrees (MS/PhD) and professional certifications while uniting industry, academia, and non-profit partners to create pathways for student success.
