CAHSI Manager, Strategic Initiatives and Operational Planning
Claudia Casas is Manager for Strategic Initiatives and Operational Planning for the Computing Alliance of Hispanic-Serving Institutions (CAHSI). Claudia is part of the Backbone for the National CAHSI Includes Center housed at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). As a proud UTEP Miner, Claudia has prior experience as an instructor for Computer Science courses such as the Junior Professional Orientation Class, Introduction to Computer Science, and Advanced Object-Oriented Programming. She has been a Peer-Led Team Learning coach in the Department of Computer Science at UTEP since 2012 with guidance through her mentor, Dr. Ann Gates, CAHSI Director. She has a Master’s in Computer Science with an emphasis on Software Engineering from UTEP. Previously, Claudia was the owner of a technology consulting company where she managed and worked on government and commercial contracts related to customized software and database development. She also worked as Project Manager for the Digital Media Center supported by the NASA-Network Resources and Training Site at UTEP where she worked on the management of web-based database projects for the integration of technology in educational research. She has 15 years of experience in planning, implementing, testing and supporting technology, which allows her to connect with faculty and students in computing to promote CAHSI best practices.
