Equity in Action Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship
December 7, 2020 @ 8:00 am - January 15, 2021 @ 5:00 pm UTC-7
Application Deadline: January 15, 2021
The Equity in Action Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship is designed to increase the diversity of Kean University’s research, teaching, and clinical faculty. Kean seeks to attract promising researchers, clinicians, and educators from different backgrounds, races, ethnic groups, and other diverse populations whose life experiences, research experiences, and employment backgrounds will contribute significantly to Kean’s academic mission and enhance the environment and learning opportunities for all Kean students.
Fellowships may be awarded for postdoctoral training in any field of study at Kean. Successful candidates will receive a two-year lecturer appointment with a reduced course load designed to provide ample opportunities for highly mentored scholarly and research training. Courses and workshops will be available to enhance the research skills necessary for securing a tenure-track faculty position at Kean or elsewhere at the conclusion of the fellowship.
Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis through January 15, 2021. Interviews and offers will be made through March 1, 2021. Start dates will be arranged in consultation with the faculty mentor and may begin as early as July 2021, but no later than September 1, 2021.
For the 2021-2022 Academic Year, Kean seeks applications from scholars from a wide range of academic disciplines to serve as research, teaching, or clinical fellows in any of the University’s current academic programs. Applicants must have either completed their doctoral program or dissertation defense by July 1, 2021.
The University’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Committee will determine the distribution of fellowship types and distribution across academic programs based on strength of the individual application, the composition of the applicant pool, and ongoing institutional need. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis through the January 15, 2021 deadline.
Consistent with the University’s current labor agreement, fellowship appointments are for a single, non-renewable two-year period. Fellows demonstrating superior performance will be given priority consideration for appointment to a tenure-track faculty position at Kean at the close of the fellowship period.
Fellows for the 2021-2022 Academic Year will receive an annual salary starting at approximately $65,948. Additionally, each fellow will receive an annual stipend to support their scholarship and related academic pursuits. Faculty housing may be available to fellows to rent, depending on availability. In addition, the University provides a comprehensive and competitive benefits package that includes medical, vision, dental, life insurance and retirement benefit options. Fellows are covered by a collective bargaining agreement, and may have access to additional benefits through their union.
